2 Humans + 1 LLM = Breakthrough Thinking
What is Personal AI Coaching?
I had a small, but powerful realization while leading a process innovation workshop for a client. One session was designed to explore how large language models (LLMs) could improve the efficiency and creativity of their workflow. After a brief overview of the tools — ChatGPT-4o and Claude Sonnet 3.5 — and some best practices, I asked participants to work in small groups on design challenges using one of the models.
Afterwards, several participants told me something surprising:
“I’ve used LLMs before on my own… but this was completely different.”
Why?
Because using an LLM solo can be frustrating, even anxiety-inducing. You wonder:
Can I trust this thing? Am I cheating? Will it take my job? What should I even use it for besides rewriting emails or generating Studio Ghiblified versions of family photos?
But using an LLM with someone — especially someone experienced — changes the dynamic. You’re no longer alone with a weirdly confident algorithm. You have a thinking partner, a second brain, and a guide. Someone to:
- Share in the experimentation
- Help you frame better questions
- Spot when the model is bluffing
- Suggest new directions or use cases you wouldn’t have thought o
That’s what Personal AI Coaching is. It’s one-on-one, project-based collaboration where we use AI together to:
- Accelerate your work
- Expand your thinking
- Offload mental friction
- And help you develop skills that stick
Yes, I’ll teach you tips and prompt techniques. But more importantly, I’ll work with you on something real — a challenge that actually matters to you or your business. I’ll bring ideas, feedback, and tools, like any good consultant would… with the added twist of helping you turn a weird, often opaque mind mirage into a valuable thought partner..
Even if you’ve used LLMs by yourself before, I promise you’ll find the experience of using them with a coach to be qualitatively different and more valuable.
Who is this for?
This is for people who want to get smarter with how they use AI.
You might be:
- A team leader wondering how generative AI can boost your group’s creativity, efficiency, or strategic thinking
- A professional navigating complex work – research, writing, client management, etc. – who wants to work smarter with a powerful new tool
- A creative using AI as a sketchpad, muse, or collaborator
- A coach, consultant or educator looking to thoughtfully integrate AI into your services
- Someone pursuing personal growth – using LLM’s to reflect, plan, journal, or gain new perspective in life or work
- An individual exploring a project – like writing a book, organizing a big idea, or experimenting with something meaningful to you
You don’t need to know how to code. You don’t need a perfect plan.
What you do need is a real question or challenge, and a willingness to explore it collaboratively.
What will happen in your session?
Before we meet:
- Fill out a brief intake form so I can tailor the session to your goals and make the most of our time together
- Make sure you’re technically ready, with access to Zoom and a strong LLM such as ChatGPT-4o or Claude Sonnet 3.5
During the session:
- Intro:
I’ll give a quick tour of frontier LLMs – plus common pitfalls and best practices to help you get more signal than noise. - Demo + Teaching:
We’ll jump into your real-world question, project, or challenge – I’ll take the lead on prompting and narrate my thinking aloud while you guide me with your context and expertise. - Client Practice:
Then we switch seats – you’ll take the driver’s seat while I act as your thought partner and coach, offering prompts, nudges, and new angles as needed. - Wrap-Up:
We’ll debrief the session, reflect on key takeaways, and talk about how to build on what you’ve learned.
After the session:
- You’ll receive a summary email with:
- A session transcript (optional)
- Key takeaways and insights
- Suggestions for next steps or ongoing practice
What if I don’t have a specific project/question in mind?
Not a problem!
We can spend a few minutes at the beginning of the session having a conversation and come up with something to work on together. Or if you want to schedule a free intro call first to brainstorm, that works, too!
What will I leave with?
Depending on your goals and what we work on together, you can expect:
- New ways of thinking about how AI fits into your work or life
- A clearer sense of what these tools are good at (and where they fall short)
- A set of custom prompts, workflows, or frameworks tailored to your project or challenge
- Greater confidence and fluency in “driving” an LLM effectively
- A fresh perspective on how to offload cognitive load and accelerate creative or analytical work
- A PDF or email summary with session highlights, key takeaways, and next steps
For some clients, the biggest takeaway isn’t a prompt or a tool — it’s a shift in mindset: Seeing AI not as just a gimmick or just a threat, but also as a tool and thought partner. A collaborator. An ‘alt’ second brain you can learn to work with.
Do I need to be technical?
Nope.
If you can hold a conversation and open a browser tab, you’re good to go. I’ll guide the tech so you can focus on ideas, questions, and insights.
